Tenikwa offers guests the opportunity for a close, safe encounter with the lesser cats of South Africa (African Wild Cat, Servals, Caracal), Cheetahs and Leopard, as well as Chacma baboons and penguins. Some of the more exclusive packages permit inter-action with the animals. The Tenikwa encounter is a great follow-on to a game reserve/safari experience; an opportunity to study these beautiful animals at closer quarters. Guests can stroll around our Meerkat Meander to see Meerkats and Tortoises and enjoy our indigenous waterfowl, Blue Cranes and Marabou Storks to delight bird watchers. Tenikwa supports the upliftment of local communities through Eco tourism and is environmentally responsible. Entrance fees fund Tenikwa's NPO Wildlife Rehabilitation and Release Programme. We are open 365 days a year, including Christmas and New Years Day. Amenities include a Tea Garden, Wheel-chair Friendly, Liquor license. Rates Validity: 1 September 2014 to 31 August 2015 Wild Cat Experience (Every ½ hour starts at 9h00 till 16h30) A one hour guided walking tour to visit the cats and other creatures at Tenikwa. Tours depart every ½ hour from 09h00 with the last tour departing 16h30. Wheelchair friendly and suitable for all ages. Prams cannot be taken into the enclosures. All weather program. Booking recommended but not essential. No bags, backpacks to be taken into the enclosures. No animal contact policy on this program. Adults - R185.00, children 6 18 years - R95.00, 5 years and under FREE Cheetah Sunrise/Sunset Walk (7h30) Walk with the Cheetahs from 07h30 09h00, where you will spend time with them in the natural fynbos while they enjoy their morning exercise. Thereafter relax with a refreshment and snack, walk along the Meerkat Meander and enjoy the antics of the Marabou Storks and Blue Cranes. Long Trousers and sturdy closed walking shoes are required. Terrain is not suitable for wheelchairs. Height requirement of 1.5m and minimum 16 years of age. Program ends 09h30. Specified refreshments included. Booking essential. Weather permitting. Animal contact permitted on Cheetah Walk. Walk with the Cheetahs starts at 07h30, where you will spend time with them in the natural fynbos while they enjoy their morning exercise. This program is designed specifically for the amateur or semi-professional photographer to obtain some stunning photos of wild cats or for the discerning guest who would like an exclusive tour. During your program, you will tour the centre to visit the cats and other creatures at Tenikwa. you will be working alongside the Animal Keepers, have fun during some Animal Enrichment Sessions, assist with any rehabilitation admissions that come in and enjoy a Cheetah Grooming Session. Either start or end your day by walking alongside our cheetahs in the natural fynbos whilst they enjoy their daily exercise. Long Trousers and sturdy closed walking shoes are required. Adults R1800.00 The Eco Kidz Family Challenge (2 hours @ 10h00 and 14h00) An interactive family program geared towards the younger generation designed to keep the kids engaged as we explore various conservation challenges. During the fun-filled EcoKidz Program, you will meet some very amazing Eco-Catz who will challenge your family to learn more about their furry friends in the wild.
